Eastern Google Account 2-Step Verification

Enable 2-Step Verification on your Eastern Google Account

There are two main steps in setting up Google 2-Step Verification:

1. Download and sign-in to the Google app on your secondary device with your Eastern Google Account.

2. Configure and enable 2-Step Verification in your Google account security settings.

Step One:

(This should be done on your district-issued iPad/iPhone, or personal smartphone)

If you are using your district-issued iPad/iPhone, the app should already have been pushed to the device, skip to 2. If you are using your personal smartphone:

1. Download the Google app from the appropriate App Store:

2. Open the Google app:

3. Select the account icon in the upper-right corner and select your Eastern Google account. Sign-in to the account, if necessary.

Step Two:

(This can be done on a computer, or the same device you have used for step one)

1. Visit your Google Account's Security page using this link (you must be signed-in to your Eastern account): https://myaccount.google.com/security .

2. Once on the Security tab scroll down and select 2-Step Verification:

3. Select Get Started and sign-in to your Eastern Google account, if needed:

4. Verify you see the device you've installed the Google app on and select Continue:

5. Add a backup option. We highly recommend entering your cellular phone number to receive text message codes as a backup to the Google app. This will ensure easiest access to the account. Alternatively, you can select use another backup option to obtain a list of one-time backup codes. If you select this option, save a copy of the list to your computer, or print them out - keep them safe and do not share them with anyone.

6. After entering a phone number, select Send. You will receive a code on your smartphone to enter into the page. (You can just enter the numbers)

7. After selecting your second step and backup option. Select Turn On.

8. You will receive an email confirmation that 2-Step Verification is enabled.

Signing-in with 2-Step Verification (for the next time you log-in to Google)

1. Sign-In with your Google password as you typically would:

2. Make sure Don't ask again on this device is selected.

3. Open the Google app on your phone, or iPad, and tap Yes, it's me (Alternatively, if you have the YouTube or Gmail apps installed, it may recommend you open one of those to receive the message. That is also fine, any of these apps can be opened to receive the message.) If you instead were to select Try another way, you could have a code sent to your phone number, rather than using these apps.

4. At this point, you should be logged-in to your Eastern Google account.
